Obituary

Mary Lois Sasser, lovingly known throughout the community as "Puddin Cake," was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and friend who peacefully transitioned on February 28, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born March 31, 1933, in Atlanta, Texas, to the late Deacon Jesse Sasser Sr. and Willie Mac Grigsby-Sasser, who instilled in her a lifelong foundation of faith, strength, and family.

Mary attended Pruitt High School in Atlanta, Texas, and went on to become a highly respected hair stylist and instructor. She later taught at Valane Hurd's Barber and Beauty School in Marshall, Texas, helping train and inspire the next generation of cosmetologists. Mary also worked faithfully for many years at the Red River Army Depot, where she remained until her retirement.

Lovingly known throughout Atlanta and the surrounding communities as "Puddin Cake," Mary was truly a pillar of her community and loved by all who knew her. There was hardly a woman in Atlanta who had not had her hair styled by "The Cake.

" Known for her sharp style, radiant

smile, and warm conversation with anyone she met, Mary left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Above all, she was a strong and devoted single mother who poured her love, strength, and wisdom into raising her children.

A woman of deep faith, Mary was an avid Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, where she taithfully shared wisdom, encouragement, and spiritual guidance with many throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Jesse Sasser Sr. and Willie Mae Grigsby-Sasser, and two sisters, Emma Jean Williams and Doris Seals.

Mary's greatest joy was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her six beloved sons: Jeryl Sasser Sr. (Mary), Larry Sasser St. (Mekia), Quenton Sasser, Victor Sasser Sr. (Wanda), Eduardo "Glenn" Sasser (Tiffany), and Cedric Sasser; one loving brother, Jesse Sasser Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren treasured gifts she held close to her heart, each one a living reflection of her love and a blessing to the world. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.

Mary Lois Sasser will forever be remembered for her strength, kindness, faith, and the love she shared with everyone she encountered. Her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched throughout the community.

In the words she often shared, "In the words of Puddin Cake... Ain't that nice!"
